A Matter of Life and Death is set in the 1940s during the second world war. It is a play with massive themes of love, life, death and war in which I explored through my costume designs. There are two different worlds; Earth and The Other World, by knowing this I created two contrasting designs. The costumes were cohesive with the set design, while the Earth costumes were naturalistic, traditional and homely to go with the English fields painted onto the stage floor. The Other World costumes were metallic and orderly with glimmers of neon to go with a more mechanical world.
